In late 2012, Portable and POPULACE joined together to tour Yuri Lee and Andy Chen, the duo behind LOOKBOOK.nu; one of the fastest growing, most influential and virtually switched-on style platforms on the web. Launched in San Francisco in 2008, LOOKBOOK.nu is today used by thousands of stylists, photographers, designers and fashion editors to shape and inform the global fashion industry.
Whether it’s A.P.C., Helmut Lang, Phillip Lim or Acne, LOOKBOOK.nu provides brands and professionals with an instantaneous stream of style inspiration generated by over 4.4 million people every month.
Founder Yuri Lee, who oversees the company’s editorial vision and international expansion, spoke for the first time to audiences in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne about the inner workings of the phenomenon that has rapidly been adopted by the fashion industry. In her position as curating the entire editorial process, Yuri is first to spot and share emerging trends in street style, beauty and fashion photography. She has emerged as one of the most informed and articulate individual in fashion and style trends online.
Presented in two parts, Yuri explored the latest trends and insights that are revealed daily across LOOKBOOK’s vast network. Andy, the platform’s COO, then took the stage to discuss the company’s trend forecast and market research, the process behind building and releasing technology (and the challenges that come with it) as well as the platform as a place for advertising and collaborations. Together they finished by discussing the future of LOOKBOOK.nu and how the site has changed the industry, giving audiences a rare opportunity into the workings of one of the most successful fashion platforms online.
This event was presented in conjunction with POPULACE.
